VViCKiD
Thats a big day of trolling! yeh I slept in for work this morning. came in 2 hours late .. haha really disappointed as I've been chasing tuna for 3 years now and still have nothing to show for we burnt through 110L of fuel yesterday on a haines 530. conditions were very smooth all the way out. Overdraft
Your keen in a 5.3 m boat at heatons. .. Lucky it was flat
amkr
Are you looking at charts and heading out to specific areas or just going out and seeing what's around?
VViCKiD
Yeh .. Triple checked weather to head out that far. I checked for temp breaks but couldn't really find them once I was out. I was looking at rip charts
amkr
I've got a few tuna theories which were partially confirmed by Chris from Ripcharts. I look more at the altimetry than the temp breaks. I believe they are more often found on that 0 line than at temp breaks. I've got a mate that went out last Sunday, picked a day that the charts looked friendly and headed out. Came home with 2 50 keggers!
VViCKiD
Nice ! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'll read up on altimetry.
NaClH2OK9
I wish my engine was that athletic VViCKiD !!! I burn that much fuel going round the FADs!! VViCKiD
Haha yeh I know them 2 stroke fuel pains.. Used to have one my self.
amkr
I don't do too badly with the 2 stroke etec. Used about 55L cruising around the southern canyons. But 110 for heatons to the canyons is great!
VViCKiD
I was referring to old school 2 stroke. 55L is pretty good too. i didn't realise etecs were so efficient

Captain Spanner
Thanks for the report Finin. I'm assuming they were mostly yellow? Do you know what type of bait they were hanging with?

finin
Gday all, well all i can say is its disgraceful out there at the moment, disgraceful wind, disgraceful current around 4.5 kn downhill and standing up along current line with up to a 3° drop on cooler side, 23° water. Not terribly blue either.
