BlackFish Sunday

Recommended Posts

Went out on Sunday morning with a mate at first light to the South Sydney ledges, was low tide and blowing S/SW about 30kms,not good fishing weather,1st swell running North about 1m,second swell running South abouth 0.5-1m but the wind wipped up the swell and by about 12 noon and with the incoming tide, high due at 3.30pm, we had to abandon our ledge due to it getting too dangerous with white outs coming over the area as the tide was rising,it rained and it was cold as ice due to the wind but we managed to get 3 blackfish and 2 drummer, threw 2 drummers back at 28/29 cm due to the 30cm legal size.

These fish were taken in a space of 1.5 hours the rest of the time was standing there watching floats and freezing, better than last weeks fish where we only took 1 luderick and gave it away to someone cause we couldnt be bothered cleaning the 1 fish.

Short video.

Thanks guys, nothing special to brag about but 5 between the 2 of us is better than nothing.

That is me and yes the same spot vid was taken just after we got off the rocks due to how rough it got quickly.

Picture was taken about 9.30/10.00 am vid was taken at 12.30pm as you can see lots of water now coming over rock,1 hour later again and waves where punching straight over the rocks without any obstacles to stop them, it got extremly bad.Just goes to show how things can change in a couple of hours from fishable to very dangerous and not fishable at all but i have fished this area for over 30 years and know when to get on and off,got a little tricky wading back in to get out cause we had to time a lull in the swells to get out so we could cross back onto the mainland, the entry and exit points become like a running river.

No problem buddy, hopefully next time we will get more and hopefully it wont be so rough and windy,so then we can concentrate on fishing rather than watching our backs from the seas.
