I thought they were a southern fusilier or false fusilier  paracaesio xanthura  caught heaps of them at nth solitary..and a few at broughton and seal rocks...rick

Common name Blue Fusilier or Yellow and Blueback Fusilier "Caesio teres"

Seen 2 come in from Sydney in the last 5 weeks

One I believe weighed 700 grams

I stand corrected Rick, you are right and the ones I have seen would be those as well.

Battle of the Fusiliers? cool looking fish ive only seen them off the Solitaries , anyone ever eaten one?

a couple of years back when we were still pro fishing  we were sending them to Sydney markets  we averaged $15.00 kilo ...they sell well ive eaten one and found it nice  tight white flesh without many bones...on some of the reefs we used to fish up north there are schools of thousands of them  just like sweep hangin midwater..rick

Yeah right, cheers Rick- I thought up on the ref they carried ciguatera -algae grazers - but the ones at SOolitairies ate everything we put in the water
