Snorkelling locations

Family have started to try snorkelling.

Anyone know locations to try in Sydney harbour, hawksbury or pitt water?

It might be too big a drive for you but on the Central Coast, Toowoon Bay and Bateau Bay are both excellent spots to snorkel.

Not too far - we tried that yesterday, pretty good apart from the usual beach being busy.

apparentely the basin in Pitt water is meant to be good.

Late but i dont usually read this forum, the snorkel from fairlight beach to the channel marker and back is very  good, some dive schools go there,  most of the  rocks from the aquarium to fairlight have good scenery in fish species, go when its ne wind water will be crystal, Also Shelly beach beach to Halfway beach on the ocean side every thing from blue groper to seahorse, not to mention all the popular bait species at both locations.

if you dont mind traveling to the central coast try terrigal haven and maitland bay, maitland bay being the better one IMO

went to maitlad bay recently with my camera here is a few pics of what we saw...
