Engine up or Engine down.

HELLO CHAPS.

Going to leave  the boat in the water for 4 days up at Forster.Do you leave the engine down so its full of water and stoping the air getting in or do you lift it up so the water drains out but air gets in to help start the corrosion.

if the water is deep enough so as not to hit bottom I would leave motor down...its the same as when we overnite at broughton.no need to tilt up...rick

I personally would leave the motor down (as long as the depth allows at low tide) or at least the anode in the water, so as to stop any electrolytic action, especially if your boat is alloy.......

When I've Island hopped and camped in QLD I leave the engine down. I figure if I'm not travelling far around the islands trimming up and down and starting is just taking more out of my single battery. Before you all think I'm bonkers with a single I do carry one of those small high powered jump starters that I can assure you cranks over the boat. It's even been used on several 4x4's and far big outboards than mine.

I have same jon..don't leave without it..bilge pumps bait pumps  radio  gps  lights   all adds to battery goin flat...rick

Plus one for me with the battery charger! I’d leave the motor down too!

horses for courses really ,if there is any swell where anchored i would tilt it up overnight but thats proberbly going over the top
