Port Hacking Snapper

Yowie

Recommended Posts

No snapper this morning, back to the pannie size reds (still good eating though) dropped a third when the hook pulled, and the tailor and crab. Fresh yakka fillets as bait.

Plenty of yakkas about early, a few pillies jumping, but not one splash I could see from a decent fish. Rather slow fishing with the occasional little reddie pinching the baits.

Great job again Yowie,

How do you catch the Yakkas?

Im assuming one of those bait jigs and how do you choose your yakka spot?

Cheers

I bought a couple of those bait jigs, but they are still in the packets.

I use a small hook, small piece of bait, no sinker and a bit of bread burley. The yakkas are usually along the shorelines, and bite best at low light, such as early morning or very late afternoon into the night. I try fishing for them in the different spots I fish. Some days they are not biting at all, so If I catch a sweep or 2, I will use the fillets of them, and they will catch a reddie or tailor as well.

Saw you fishing as I went past just after 6 yesterday, didn't want to spook the fish so left you in peace.

Went out chasing dollies and flaties.

very nice tailor

Thanks Bruce. Keep that spot a secret.

Did you do any good outside?
