0 Yowie
Caught one similar about 10 years ago in the Hacking. Don't know the species, only one ever caught or seen down here.
0 Volitan
That looks like an Asian Paddle Crab. there is a dark and a light colour form. they are an invasive pest species that Fisheries is trying to isolate and control. it should be reported to fisheries (just in case I’m right). my knowledge of crabs is pretty limited though. What makes you guys say Ridged Swimmer instead of Asian Paddle? Edit: never mind. I can see the ridge pattern on that one that doesn't appear on the Asian Paddle. Good spot guys! 0 Blackfish
Also the Asian Paddle crab has 6 distinct spines down each side of the shell, Ricks seemed to lack those. Also the Ridged Swimming Crabs have distinct dimples on their claws and Asian Paddle Crabs not as prominent. Mate got one in the Hawkesbury about 6 years ago and had it ID'ed then and I recon its the same critter.
