Long weekend photos

With my eldest daughter away fishing down the coast I managed to get out for a little photography with my other little nips.

We came across a patch of what I'm convinced were tuna being pushed north by dolphins and seals, the seals struggled to keep up with the dolphins and so did we. I didn't want to interfere with the hunting pack so turned our sights at the few remaining seals on Montague. On our return home we came across another pod of dolphins feeding at a much slower rate just a few km from Narooma bar, there were also brydes whales though we didn't manage a photo of one.

Thanks for sharing.

PS - may I ask what camera you are using?

I use a Sony rx10, used to have heaps of pro slr gear but the Sony does it all in one small camera now.

Great photos, especially the reflection of the clouds and nose of the canoe!

The picture doesn't  do it justice, at the time the clouds looked like they were deep in the water but each time I stopped to do a photo the wake caught us up spoiling the effect.

I had a quick google and notice it is not weather/waterproof ... how do you keep it safe? I love your photos and  I am interested in a quality camera that I can take along for my outdoor stuff like fishing / skiing.

Thanks

It's the latest model which is pretty well protected against dust and the odd splash if you carry something to wipe off any water. I use pelican cases which are completely waterproof, l hose my case down after a day offshore. You could even use a pelican case as a float if you end up in the drink.

Holy sh_t ... so much tech... I can now see why the pictures look so great (not taking anything away from the photographer of course ?).

Thanks for sharing, I have really learnt a lot.

Cheers

  • 4 months later...

Look guys the camera isn't suddenly going to make everything you ever dreamt of easy but this little camera certainly makes it easier than lugging big heavy kits that are so heavy you struggle to steady them untill a point you don't carry them. I even get arm ache from continually holding this little camera up to my face waiting for the right action. You can image what holding the old slr kit would of been like at around 10lbs.

I know many people still believe their slr rules supreme, that's fine I'm more than happy for them, I also still enjoy pottering with my kids slr kits occasionally.

My advice is before any big investments are made be aware these small cameras are only getting better and better and to read this from 12 months of beta testing before us mortals got our hands on this little camera https://alphauniverse.com/stories/rx10-iv--a-sleeper-no-more/
