hi raiders

got the day off so decided to hit botanybay again still trying to catch that elusive hoody

got home from work around 2am didnt get to sleep until 3am and the alarm went off at 5am

packed the gear and pick up my mate just before 6am

took about 1hr to get to my mate baz with the boat and took almost another hour to hit the ramp

anyway quickly loaded up the boat and headed straight to molli pt

decided to troll molli hoping to get hit by a big one or anything really

we were using the mackbait 5in in blue and the rapala in ghost

we put the ghost at the bottom about 10m using the downrigger and the mackbait on top

after about 30mins of going up and down molli pt with no hits and lost the ghost lure by getting snag at the bottom we decided to catch some livebait

got to our livebait spot and within 5mins we got a rat to 55cm on the boat

what a good start so after a quick pic the rat went back in to grow more

for the next hour we just kept on catching rats after rats after rats so we decided to move to my mate baz hoody spot with about a dozen yakkas and slimys

setup two livebait with floats but after 2hrs with no hits we decided to go back to our livebait spot hoping to catch a legal kingy

once we got back to our livebait spot it didnt take long to start catching rats after rats after rats for the next 2hrs

biggest rat i caught was 62cm

caught an oz salmon over the 60cm on live yakka we were hoping it was a legal kingy

wind started to blow so we decided to pack up and head back to the ramp around 3pm

we ended up landing over 30 rats lost over a dozen on the side of the boat and we left the rats biting

it was the best day for us chasing kingys

we were using 2000 2500 daiwa combos with 10lb trace

landing those rats using those daiwa combos are so much fun

we were using slimys pillys chicken for bait on a size 4 circle hooks

hope we can get that elusive hoody soon before the summer ends

ended up taking home the salmon slimys yakkas which were all given to our visitor from brisbane

we also caught 1 bream and 1 samsonfish which the wife kept

thanks for reading

were hoping the kingys will be legal by april

weve been hoping for a hoody since we started targeting kingys since summer 2017

Nice work fisho, so what I was saying in another thread is pretty much spot on!

The rats have now become very picky & you really need to be using live baits now.

Next Friday Om out there, 1st thing will to get some live yakka's.

Thanks for the update

thanks mate

goodluck on friday

hoping we can get out there again soon
