Clarkes point reserve - woolwich

Recommended Posts

Went out this morning 9am with the old man at low tide fishing west of the point on the wall there, was getting only small snapper and bream. A few hours into it started catching some nice leather jackets, managed 4 of them biggest was 36cm smallest was 25cm. A gentleman further down was using a float and he got a solid salmon. Not a bad place to drop a line.

Great spot to take the family for a picnic & good variety of fish to be caught depending on season eg tailor, trevally, bream, flathead, blackfish, kings, Jew, etc, only problem being west of the bridge. Saw an 18kg Cobia caught there years ago as well as heard of a 5kg snapper caught one night

A couple of weeks ago I saw a school of kings busting up along the wall.  They had the bait balled up and were smashing them. They would suddenly disappear then reappear further along. I didnt have a rod with me.

It is a great spot for picnics, dog walking and the old Woolich dock is pretty interesting. I guess that's where most of the sandstone for the local houses came from.
