Yowie
After heading back from southern Qld and northern NSW ( a few days after the fires started burning through Peregian Beach, Stanthorpe, Applethorpe, Tenterfield, Casino ) I was looking forward to head out for a fish. As a side issue , the people from the above towns need tourists to head their way and spend some money on their local produce - wine, apples, apple juice, strawberries, nuts, other farm produce, and arts and crafts. The current fires will not help them at all. Stanthorpe is almost out of water, so tourists are avoiding the towns, however, if the tourists turn up as the locals want them to, water is being purchased and the tourist dollars will help the towns people. Sounds a bit strange, but tourists spending dollars in those towns is what is needed. My mate wanted a bottom bash for flatties, so we organised for this morning judging by the various weather extremes over the last week, and what is forecast for later today. We judged it right, bugger all wind, little swell, but a south running current that gave us the best drifting conditions for quite a while. Only 2 drifts needed. The first drift had only a couple of spikies mixed in with the blue spots. The next drift was a lot of spikies with the blue spots, moving only around 100 metres east of the first drift. Also pulled up 2 tiger flatties amongst out bag limit of 10 each. We also threw back about the same number of blue spots that were under or just over the size limit. Biggest was not too big at 45cm. Various family members have been waiting for some fresh fish (they should take up fishing and catch their own ) Lucky there was only one jacket with the flatties, and not a school of them.

zmk1962
Great job and report. We canned our trip out to Browns because of the forecast- seeing this we should have acted on plan B !!! Cheers Zoran
Ryder
Great bag. Your family are lucky to have such a good provider. At near $50 per kilo flathead is getting too expensive.

Mum, and my daughter and her family, will appreciate the fillets. 2 hours ago, zmk1962 said: Great job and report. Cheers Zoran This time of year, the weather changes quite often, so one needs to change the fishing days. Easier now that my mate and I have retired. 2 hours ago, jnrfinatic said: Wow, very very nice feed mate! Well done Adem Thank you.
