Mate I use to camp and fish at Oconnell/Tarrana for years.

We use to camp at the Fish River Reserve and one night it got down to -7, the condensation in the tent froze on the roof and the weight pulled the tent sides in, man that was to the bone cold.

Fish River can produce some good browns and bows as does Phill's Falls and the Duck.

Make sure you go down pass the red rattler if you can.

We really miss camping out there it was fantastic times.

We were lucky enough to know a farmer that owned most of one side of the river there from the dirt road river crossing down so ended up getting to camp in his paddocks.

Now we go to Styx River at Ebor, very tight fishing hard for fly.

Going for 8 days in a few weeks.

another vote for stream fishing, love it and the scenery.

Lots of snakes though

Yes Dear do you know if Fish River is fishing well nowadays?? Or any river spots west of the mountains you guys know of? Would love to fish somewhere out there also. Paddy T I’m afraid I haven’t been yet. House work has had me tied down 🙄

keen to go ASAP but shame the snakes are out already, was looking forward to not having to be on high alert the entire time! Ah well next winter.

Id think realistically now my next adventure will be after opening weekend so would be keen to go somewhere west of the mountains if anyone has any spots for a camp and fish that might be less crowded? (Dont mind a bit of a walk).

cheers

Mate have not been there since we moved up here nearly 10 years ago.

Fish River at Oconnell/Tarana has a free camp reserve next to the river.

We stayed there heaps, can get busy in school and long weekend

Duckmoloi is nice place to camp but a 4WD or Subaru AWD is good to have.

Things may have changed since i was there, plenty of tiger snakes!

Fished the Kowmung a few times which is nice

@PaddyT do you mean lots of water in the blue mountains? Coxs, little, Jenolan etc? Have you been fishing up there recently and had much luck?

think I gotta stop asking questions and just get out there!
