Reel service

Recommended Posts

I have a Shakespeare alpha reel that someone gave to me and the winding action is very stiff..is it worth it getting serviced or am I better off just buying a new reel! I think this particular reel is only a cheap one that came in combo with a Shakespeare ugly stick

Take handle off side plate off and see if it has dried grease or vaseline in it  quik fix  is spray degreaser then  reapply some thinner grease    if you are capable of full pulldown  do so  first option is only a quiky  to see if it frees up gears

If you do a full pull down take photos as you dismantle it so it will help when you reassemble
