Yes, thank you, never caught one myself, but research says you are both correct. This one is simply not very sooty. 😉

they have crazy colour variation,  I've caught them from near jet black to creamy colour and everything in between without moving my feet

Never caught a Grunter but have caught Jacks that are really pale more like a Moses Perch and then really dark Red Devils out of the same school.

Also another example are Luderick, some really pale ones and then at other times really dark.

Not to hijack the post, but on a recent "Research and Development trip" ... that's self development trip 😀

Here's a couple of Jacks that were caught, so I thought I'd take a colour of the colour variation to show one example of different body colours of the same fish species.
