Deckee, the cloud platform for safer waterways and maker of the leading boating safety app, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Boating Industry Association (BIA) which will see the organisations collaborate on promoting safe boating and responsible boat ownership across Australia.

As part of the new partnership, Deckee becomes the recommended boating app of the BIA in Australia.

The BIA is the peak industry body which represents the interests of boating industry businesses and works with various organisations and government authorities to address issues related to the environment, boating safety, waterways infrastructure, access to waterways and related public facilities. The organisation also conducts a program of boat shows as a showcase of the boating lifestyle and to promote wider awareness and advocacy of the industry.

 

“Our mission at Deckee is to keep everyone safe and informed on the water, and by forging this alliance with the BIA, we can now increase the impact our technology is having on the waterways,” said Deckee Founder and CEO Mike McKiernan.

Boating is a way of life for many families in Australia, and it is estimated that 5 million people participate in some form of boating each year - the vast majority of which occurs in family runabouts and paddle craft.

The Federal Government says more than 85% of the population live within 50 kilometres of the coast, and more than 20% of all Australians engage in some form of boating activity annually.

 

Deckee will work collaboratively with the BIA to inform and educate the public about boating safety via the Deckee platform in new and innovative ways, complementing the BIA’s successful Discover Boating campaign and other key online initiatives such as the lifejackets.org.au website.
