This is what I use. One of the best rain jackets I’ve ever used. Made by fishermen for fishermen. Light weight, ultra protective and can cast all day with it on!

I have two of them. One is 10 years old, still like brand new.

I think there are so many variables when you talk about WW gear.

Seasonal, summer you want something that is light & waterproof otherwise you will be sweating bullets.

Winter something that is also waterproof but breathable but has a layer effect.

 

Personally I dont think there is any one solution.

 

If you are talking about staying dry then you can get both top & bottom PVC gear for as little as $60-$80 

 

If you want to style out then spend what you want.

 

Its an open question really.

Atomic has just released a new range, claiming they are waterproof. Includes pants if you want them.

Remember you only pay for what you receive. It is worth paying more for quality.
