Plenty of Kingies and surface action around today - inside and off shore.

With a weather prediction that was finally correct today(low swell of .5m and gentle winds till 11 am) and a crew of newbies who were keen to catch a kingfish, I decided to head off shore. Live Yakkas we’re easy to get and we boated our first Kingie off Middle head before 7am on an unweighted squid strip, no 2 circle hook and 20lb line which was flicked out the back as a “floater”.

We headed offshore in near perfect conditions. We caught one little “rat” on a live Yakka and 7 on squid and squid strips. Surprisingly there were few boats at the Roseville ramp and launch and retrieve was quick and easy.

We got the action south - early morning and headed back in before the SEaster picked up about lunchtime.

There were multiple surface bust ups all over the harbour from the Bridge to Middle head, with lots of boats flicking surface lures and hooking up on Frigate Makerel, tailor and salmon - lots of fun

Fresh Kingfish cutlets for tea, lightly crumbed in Panko and pan fried in Olive oil with cold tomatoes from the garden and Cole slaw and mango slices = Yum.
