Shimano Sephia vs Daiwa Emeraldas

Sea Ranger

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am thinking about another dedicated rod reel setup for squiding around Sydney.  I’ve been looking at the Emeraldas for several years but now see the Sephia line from Shimano.  Anyone on here have experience with either of these setups rods reels?

cheers

I cant comment on the emeraldas, How i do own a sephia combo that i purchased a few years ago from japan before shimano au started selling the range here. It is a bb806m paired with a ss c3000s

It is an awesome rod, pretty good reel. I do like it because of the parabolic nature of a squidding rod compared to used a 2-4kg 7ft rod

The reel feels nice, light and balanced. the dual handle is a nice feature. The combo is pretty much my go to rod for bait fishing also. catching fish from yakkas to rat kings. Maybe too long for soft plastic. only fish that i failed to catch was hairtails as the parabolic nature of the rod is too soft to set the hooks on hairtails.
